Here is a great example of a story mobile.
If you would like to present the book project
this way, I think would be a GREAT idea!
(and very easy to display)
You will need:
- Construction Paper - 9" x 12"
- Safety Scissors- Tape
- Crayon Packs or Best-Buy Washable Fine-Tip Markers
- String
- Hanger
- Hole punch
- DIRECTIONS
- Have your child fold the sheet of construction paper in half lengthwise, then fold it in half width wise to create four equal-sized rectangular sections. Unfold the paper and lay it flat on a table.
- Use a crayon or marker to label each of the four sections with one of the following titles: First, Then, Next, Last.
- Encourage your child to draw a picture & write about in each section to represent the sequence of events in their chapter book that they have been reading for the project.
- (Before they begin, encourage them to retell the story they read aloud to help them decide which events to illustrate.)
- After they complete their drawings, have your child cut along the folds to separate the sections of paper into four pieces.
- Punch a hole in the top of each piece of paper. Tie a length of string through each hole and attach the string to the hanger. Then, add the book’s title to a strip of paper and tape it to the inside of the hanger to complete the mobile. Variation: Instead of a sequencing mobile, create a story elements mobile.
- Simply have your child draw pictures that illustrate the following elements &
- write about each element on the back.
- Characters, Setting,Beginning, Middle, End,
